| In
my last newsletter I asked subscribers to send in an
example about how they know God is real. Here's one
of them. Thanks, Daisy Anne!
I never remember a time when I did not
know about Jesus because I was raised from day one going
to Sunday school and church. My parents taught Sunday
school and God was talked about in our home.
But it was during the invitational time
at Vacation Bible School that I accepted Jesus as my
Savior and invited Him to live in my heart. That was
the big and huge difference between knowing about Him
and knowing Him as my Savior - knowing him as LORD of
my life came as I grew older.
At around age 30 I had a crisis of faith
in my life; the world had been pulled out from undermy
feet and I rested in Jesus' arms. I began a daily devotional
time and prayer time, began Bible studies, and Jesus
has become my most trusted friend, advisor, counselor
and my spiritual growth and character development is
increasing.
During the last five years several serious
things have gone on in my life and the lives of my family
members - breast cancer, my husband and I have had a
total of five surgeries, oldest son has gone to combat
in Iraq twice, caring for my parents, my mother's slow
descent into the now end-stage of Alzheimer's. Jesus
has sustained me, sometimes even carrying me, kept me
under control, encouraged me, given me strength. I have
become an inspiration to others and my life is a testimony.
Looking back I have seen that He has revealed
Himself to me at certain stages just when I was ready,
and then prepared me for the next step and the next
crisis of faith.
The night I found out I had cancer I felt
the tangible comfort of the Holy Spirit, almost as if
I could reach out my hand and touch Him. During the
time our son was in combat, many times I would be awakened
in the middle of the night as if an alarm had gone off..."Wake
up, you've got to pray for him right now!" I've
asked my son about a couple of these times and they
were ambushed, in trouble, afraid.
My believe in Jesus has grown from believing
the scriptures and knowing I need Jesus as my Savior,
to seeing the active work of Him in my life, and He
has used me as a tool lto be a testimony to others for
Him. When I read the Scripture 2 Timothy 1:12, "because
I know whom I have believed," I believe in my heart,
mind, soul and deep into my bones that Jesus is the
Christ, the Son of God.
